-- But the Onxy is way more efficient for skinning than any Diamir variant.  Not only is the Onyx lighter than any Diamir, but whatever small advantage the Eagle's slightly altered pivot point has is far far offset by having to lift up almost the entirely binding on each stride.  Whereas the Onyx, like the Dynafit, just stays put on each stride.

However with any single pivot binding you lift the ski partially off the ground. This problem is solved by the seemingly heavy multiple pivot naxo which allows the ski to easily slide along the snow.
Early this year I saw a great marketing photo of Chris Davenport mid-stride with his ski well off the ground, but I can't seem to find it...

ah well, looks like the dyna-masses won the marketing wars and naxo is no more.

Not if you have good skinning technique.

And Naxo was mainly killed off by its inability to compete well with the various Diamir models, as well as Marker's intrusion on the burly end of that market segment.

yeah, if you severely alter your natural stride you can keep the entire ski on the ground with a single pivot. if you only slightly alter your stride then a portion of your ski lifts off the ground.

anyway, back to whining about broken bindings:

1) This year the AFDs broke on my Dukes. Marker fixed, but they were out for a couple weeks.
2) Bent the main underfoot rails on my naxos (I believe it was due to overflexing wussy skis).

The reliability of AT bindings is approaching that of bike parts....
