broken bindings whiner fest! was created by Eli3
I'll start, just did this today, you'd think there would be a bit more of a connection... full res if you want to see the shiny metallic details:
www.flickr.com/photos/spcmanspiff/451306...t-72157623710462911/
and last year... 4 1/8"ish screws holding your heel into plastic, may not be strong enough for a fatty like me. Make sure all of the top plate screws are snug!
I think it may be time to switch to free rides! Are these common coinsurances, or am I particularly unlucky or fat?

I thought that was a performance improving modification.
Now your binding finally works how it should, just have to modify your turn.
Did you at least get a good story or picture out of the deal/bail?

I had a moment of clarity, time froze, and an angel arrived to gently separate the ski from my heel. When I awoke however, my feet were in the air and all I could see was white....

You said it "Snug"! Don't give them the one more crank oughta do it.
I overtightened and stripped those thin screws (snapped one) and needed to replace the heel housing. I was surprised that the screws went into the plastic and not seated in some form of metal to hold the spring pressure.
The Dynafit design is amazing, but a few mods with a couple lightweight metal pieces would really make them a little more durable.
You really put some torque on those pieces Eli.
I bet those G3 Onyx would be a little more bomber, but when you compare the weight to fritschi they are only about 14oz lighter than the Eagle that have a better swing method, but only go to a 10 din.

"The Dynafit design is amazing, but a few mods with a couple lightweight metal pieces would really make them a little more durable."
-- Those four screws holding together the metal sandwich should really be recessed. Curiously, the Vertical half fixed the problem: two of the four screws are not recessed, but two have screw heads above the surface.
"I bet those G3 Onyx would be a little more bomber, but when you compare the weight to fritschi they are only about 14oz lighter than the Eagle that have a better swing method, but only go to a 10 din."
-- The Onyx heel uses the same sandwich design, with four retention screws. But those screws are not subject to boot heel pressure since the binding uses separate climbing bars. However, who knows what other sorts of long-term durability problems will eventually crop up. Until then, I don't see any reason to conclude that the Onyx is any more durable than Dynafit.
-- But the Onxy is way more efficient for skinning than any Diamir variant. Not only is the Onyx lighter than any Diamir, but whatever small advantage the Eagle's slightly altered pivot point has is far far offset by having to lift up almost the entirely binding on each stride. Whereas the Onyx, like the Dynafit, just stays put on each stride.
