"First they came for the climbers, and I did not speak out...."

Hummm - required electronic divice above tree line
                 systematic extermination of millions of people

Lets keep our little problem in perspective, shall we?

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out.

Yes, I'm kinda thinking that was Trumpetsailors' point..

Olympia knows, at least, that for every mail received there's a hundred that feel the same way, so, make your voice heard.

How did they vote on NWAC funding? Even if we all had PLBs, they'd do far less to save lives than a good avalanche forecast and training. If they have our best interests at hand, that's gotta come first. It's a point worth making.

I wrote my own message rather than copy the letter here, and I encourage that for everyone (form letters get counted rather than read). But I did make the point that avalanches are the greater danger above the timberline, and a law requiring a PLB would likely result in lower usage of avalanche beacons... It is also useful to point out that a PLB is useless in an avalanche, as legislators may not know that.

I also ended by mentioning that NWAC funding would save far more lives than any law would. Just to be nice to our friends...

Sheesh, now we get tagged by yet another radio-GPS device, this time by law?  Cell phones are bad enough, but at least you can leave the thing at home (no coverage in the BC anyway). Why must the government must know everyone's whereabouts at every moment?  Is there any place left in the country I can be untracked?  Or is untracked another word for Terrorist? (ski pun intended).

Replied by alpentalcorey on topic Re: PLB Legislation introduced in the Washington House
How would it be even remotely possible to enforce this?
