Seeking Binding Cover Advice was created by mtneer ordinaire
As the owner of a new pair of (expensive) Dynafit TLT Vertical ST bindings with brakes, I was disappointed -- but not especially surprised -- that the $9 Rossignol binding cover I purchased at REI got blown to hell after a couple of outings involving Interstate speeds.

I returned the Rossignol bag and have searched unsuccessfully for a replacement.  On the Internet, I've found essentially the same nylon bag with elastic ends and a crappy zipper with different brand names.  I found a ridiculously priced ski cover listing for $80.  With a bit of time and some creativity, I'm sure I could craft a homemade cover.

What protection cover suggestions do you have for skis transported via an exposed roof rack?

Thanks.

are dynafits really so fragile that they can't handle a ride on  roof rack?  ;)

Yeah, I'd just keep them lubed and wipe the dirt/water off them when you get home and save the money. Or buy some cordura and sew in your own zipper/elastic and save some bucks.

For those in the business of making/selling crappy binding covers, the answer's an unequivocal "yes."

While they'd likely survive without a cover, given their high cost, I plan to baby them so they last as long as possible.  If driving around town with skis sporting binding covers proves I'm a noob, what the hell...

I use a bag that covers the whole ski. Don't need road spray on the ski bottoms either. But here we salt the road snow into submission. Ere the "Rust Belt"
