I spent a lot of time perfecting the "dull chisel pushed behind a heat gun" technique while stripping paint off my kitchen cabinets many years ago. I remember when I started it was real hard to work the heat gun and chisel independently in opposite hands at the same time, not gouging the wood with the chisel, and heating at the proper pace with the gun, but the hours and hours of stripping cabinets has paid off. The muscle memory was still there. The glue came off quick, easy and clean. I'll do a final pass with the paper bag/iron method to get 'em skweaky clean, then use your advise for the re-app. Thanks. Keep the tips coming!

One more, which I've used with some success on a couple pair of skins. Put painters tape all along the plush on the skin, which will help keep heated glue from flowing around onto the fabric as you clean it up. I've done it both with and without -- it helps, though isn't critical if you're careful with your scraping.

Andrew McLean has a recent blog post that suggests taking old skins to a dry cleaner to have the glue removed

I do the following with good results:
- apply old cotton sheet to old nasty stickyless glue job
- appy hot iron until old glue (and crap) sticks to old sheet
- peel off revealing clean skin
- re glue (using the amazing gold label - thanks for the connections for that by the way).

I've a feeling our dry cleaner would laugh me out o the place if I brought my old skins there.
