As of now the telemetry at T line is reading 20". Anyone know how legitimate that is?

Just consider the gate opening time and if it will open after a big storm before committing to the long drive to Paradise.
It will probably be OK but sometimes the first heavy snowfall and especially during a storm makes the NPS slower than usual and it wouldn't be the first time I've driven there and found the gate closed all day or not open until noon!!!!!

Just saying, take it into consideration.

But they are going to do $32 million in repairs to the road ... so why open it this winter, just wait til summer tourist season :-)

I just flew back from SE Alaska where it was windy and wet. That storm is supposed to track down here with its Alaskan cold air. Pumped on snow fall.

Tell me about it.
I flew into Dutch Harbor in the Aleutians on Wed in a small private plane. As we landed it was blowing a steady 50 mph with gusts up to 75mph. The turbulance on the approach was simply terrifying and I have no shame in admiting that I was scared shitless.
The only thing that got me through was my aetheism and belief that the pilot did not have a death wish. ;D
We left later that night and it was like a rocket ship taking off as we had a 65mph  tailwind.
By the next day , the guys we had left behind said it was a steady 75mph with gusts up to 100MPH and blowing ice chunks.
Thats one wild piece of rock!

And for those who are waiting out the accumulation and drift over to surfing at times like these, the forecast for Tofino tomorrow is for 20 to 26 foot surf (23.5 currently) with a 16 second wave period. Maverick's North. If you are good enough, go get it.

Park phone message revised at 7:30 AM, Saturday.  Paradise road opening "...expected between 10-11"    ;)

13 + 9 = 21" with moderate west winds all night
