Mount Fuji? was created by Erik Henne
Even though I have never been to Japan, I have had a long standing goal of skiing Fuji-san. This spring my wife and I finally have the money and time to make a trip to Japan. I’ve begun researching skiing Mt. Fuji and have found a surprising lack of resources and accounts. The best resource I have found is the summitpost.org post, which is good, but has just one short paragraph about ski ascents.
Has anyone here skied Mt. Fuji? If so, I have a number of questions.
When is the best time to go? The summitpost recommends May to June. How feasible is April? It would be nice to combine the trip with some inbounds skiing as well. If we go in May/June, is there anything else worth skiing on the main island?
What is the most straightforward route?
How difficult is it? I would imagine it is similar in difficulty to Adams or Hood. What mountains in the NW are comparable?
Any advice on timing the weather? This seems like it would be the biggest obstacle. Any good relevant weather forecasts? A free air speed report like MRNP has would be very helpful.
Are there any relevant avalanche reports?
Is there a Japanese back-country skiing website? I don’t speak Japanese, but I could wade through it with Google Translator.
Are there any expatriates living in Japan reading this? Do you want to meet up this spring for a ski?
Any other advice you have would be greatly appreciated. I will be sure to post a full trip report on TAY for anyone interested in making the trip in the future.

There are TR's about Skiing Mt Fuji on TGR. Hold your nose and use their search function.
Websites.
www.steepdeepjapan.com/
www.poachninja.com/welcome-poachninjacom
modestbike.com/studio/
Contact Hakuba Mountain Guides and talk to Damian who is the owner and is the guy who blogs steepanddeepjapan and is an expatriate living and guiding in Japan. I have hired him for a days guiding for our trip in Feb. If you contact by this web page, Damian will answer.

Damian has been very helpful as has been Nick Kowan, a Canadian married to a lovely Japanese lady with new twins and who owns the Hakuba Powder Lodge. Nick has helped us with hotels and is very knowledgeable and does a lot of BC skiing .We are staying at his lodge.

And another where the guy above has a successful trip.

I know a lot of TAYers find TGR nasty( and beware IT can be) BUT there is a lot of good stuff there and the search function is golden.
PS I'll be in Hakuba with my wife and three other TAYers from Feb 12-24th if you wanna hook up.
