CRYSTAL PAID WARREN MILLER TO FILM THERE!!!!
Reportedly the first and so far only ski area that had to pay WME to film there. Pretty weak sauce in my honest opinion. Ultimate product placement. Yet another reason to pass on WM this year. And laugh at the weak management of crystal mountain.
HAHAHA!

I am skeptical that they are the "ONLY" area to do this, but I agree with the rest of your analysis.
Steven's had some great footage in the new TGR movie where the mountain built some monster gap jumps for the pro's once the mountain closed. This is the way to engage a film company...offer them access, authorize them to do what ever they want, and encourage them to take their heli's into the surrounding peaks so you don't piss off "the public." If you watch how many movies filmed "at Whister" you'll soon realize that "Whistler" means the somewhere between Blackcomb and Pemberton.

As far as Warren Miller goes, those that haven't should check out the book "Wine, Women, Warren & Skis" that he wrote about him and a friend ski bumming in a tiny trailer at Sun Valley in '46 or '47. Highly reccommended.
btw - when WME came to Alpental in '98-'99 they closed off some delicious terrain on a nice day as well.

I think you've had quite enough meat for a while based upon your recent SA adventure.
A good colon cleanzing enema should be on your to do list!

I like those parts too. More ski movies is better than fewer ski movies. I don't get the WME hate. If TGR or Powderwhores start getting national distribution deals will their stuff start sucking? I doubt it.I suppose corporate ski movies do suck, except for the parts where they ski sick deep and the parts where they launch massive airs. I like those parts.
