what makes a good "ice" ski

Also, I am looking for a mountaineering ski primarily and am opting to carry a little more weight in order to have more stability in mixed conditions.

In my opinion, you're not going to be railing turns in ice on a ski mountaineering trip -- I'd think you want something with more flexibility, that is a little more forgiving to ski in all conditions. A stiff, carvey ski requires a lot of attention and focus, which isn't always available when you're tired and the snow turns to garbage...

My opinion, obviously!

+1 for stiff, damp, and narrow but also check your edge angle.  90 degrees and sharp is good for ice but not as good for other conditions; 1-2 degrees from 90 is common on most skis if they have been tune. My Black Diamond Vertige were good ice skis; also my Tua Excalibur Mitos (not the Tua Mitos).
