Charles, et al:
My apologies. I had posted on this site previously and I suppose my reading of fine print is difficult given my myopia. The reason for posting on TAY is that I know this is a forum for backcountry skiers and has world-wide readership. What we're looking to form (if I can possibly add anything to Scotsman's eloquent posting) is a Coop of likeminded skiers world-wide that can buy the hill. This is not, in my eyes, a commercial venture. We (the skiers of Shames) just don't want to see our little gem closed, I see this as a danger given the present owners inability to find a buyer (even at a bargain basement price). I was a little confused as to why there had been no postings on TAY with regard to this, and now realize why. I will gladly not post anything more here regarding this venture unless I have approval from the administrators. No offence, or breaking of the rules was intended.

Thanks for the expansion on the details, Scotty -- I didn't know Jamie was part of this. Small world...
NWBcer, I think you're in good shape here. It's just that anything vaguely promotional needs to go through Charles, to make sure it fits the TAY traditions/ethos/whatever. Had Charles thought it inappropriate I think it would be gone already, but you and Scotty have explained it pretty well.

NWBCer: thank you for responding and providing more details (and Scotty as well). As I posted before, the issue was not the topic, which is fully appropriate for this forum, just the procedure (Marcus got that right). As for future posts about the Shames Mountain project, you have pre-approval to post as long as the project doesn't significantly change in its details (eg. from coop to private commercial).

Just an update to let you know a local steering committee has been formed and the concept is evolving. There will be a Town Hall meeting in Terrace on October 24 to present the idea to the community, along with answering questions and getting feedback.
If you are interested in knowing more, please check out the (purposely vague and evolving) and introduce yourself on the message board.

Hi TAYers. Just a little update here. One of the "couple in living argentina" Jamie Shectman, has left the Friends of Shames (FoS) Steeting Committee and is running with his own show now (Shames Mtn Coop or SMC). Please note that the SMC is not affiliated with our local group - The Friends of Shames.
The FoS are still focused (through due diligence and researching all aspects of all possible models) on determining the best solution to the long term viability of our local amazing ski hill, Shames.
We'll be getting a website up and running soon to provide more information, but we all have day jobs so please be patient. I'll try to give ya'll updates here when I can. Rest assured Charles, any model we pursue will not resemble Whistler, Aspen, or St. Anton.
