Bummer, bummer, bummer! I feel for you--almost literally! I hope you have a quick, speedy, thorough recovery.
In the meantime, if you can stand the pressure on your knee, I highly recommend one of those little scooters that you rest your knee on for getting around. My insurance didn't cover it, so I just sufficed with a padded ottoman or kitchen chair, but really thought it was great relief when working in the kitchen... also, remove all throw rugs because no matter how adept you are, they seem to grab you, get stuck on crutches, etc. etc. And don't forget to give your "good" leg a break. After three months, non weightbearing one leg and standing off kilter, I felt all kinds of new pains in the non-injured leg to compete with the injured... Finally, as silly as it may be there is a website Mybrokenleg.com...
Again, best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Ooo. A knee scooter sounds rad. I'll look into it. This injury seems to be a step up from my past non-weight-bearing crutch experience, and anything that will help keep me functional in my lab work will be handy.
Thanks for the advice!
