Recommended ankle surgeons? was created by Charlie Hagedorn
Preferably with UW affiliation? Please PM or post here if you've any thoughts. Spiral fractured a fibula and ruptured a ligament (unfortunately not yet sure of the name) in heavy afternoon snow yesterday to conclude a fabulous summit ski of Rainier. MRNP rangers did an amazing job of the extraction. TR later, surgery now
.
Thanks in advance!

wow, as they say..dang..
So my two cents, get a team you trust. My experience has been as a ARNP trained here with UW, Emory back east, had my own fractured femur, ripped bicep tendons.....et etetet ski, paddle, hike and tour,. Etetet
I have no affilations with my recomendations . The UW is great, I love them, but they are not the only team in town. It depends on on your injury. I know that the proliance group is very well thought of and alot of medical folks including UW people go there. Very respected. I do not do any business with them. I just have had them take care of me and a couple of freinds I have referred to them. Pretty young group, keeps current, listens to their patients, and their patient panel is a sports focused group.

I am also sure there are many other excellent teams. If it was my leg I would feel safe with them. YMMV!!
pm if you need to chat

You might try emailing
Steve Ramsey
. He had a different type of lower leg/ankle fracture, but one that was quite serious. I know he did a bit of research before he had the surgery done and you might be able to get some help from him. Good luck with the surgery and a speedy recovery.

Check out the Seattle Times "Northwest Magazine" feature about Dr. Sigvard Hansen, a long-time Harborview foot/ankle etc. specialist. It was published in the last couple of months in fact
seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/pacificnw...cificpfootdoc22.html
I have worked peripherally in his professional circles since school days in Seattle. The article says it well and I completely agree based on my limited expertise; I see the adoration he gets from his patients. Chances are many orthopods who trained around here are his students. Good luck!

I second the recommendation for Dr. Hansen. Widely respected in Seattle and a ton of experience.

Thanks for the replies - looks like the UW Harborview folks are for me. Hopefully I'll hear back from their surgical team by this afternoon. Now to sort out the fun logistics of attending to daily life with a painful appendage!
