Enchantment Lakes Loop? was created by Big Hurt Bob
I was thinking about skiing up to Colchuck Lake, up Aasgard Pass, across the plateau, then down the Snow Lakes trail. Has anyone done this before? If so, how was the skiing? Was it a worthwhile tour? How many days did it take? I can imagine some difficult sections coming off the plateau where there are some steep cliffs and what not that might be very difficult if water ice forms there.

I have done it as a day walk. I thought that the exit out of the Snow Lakes Trail was tedious beyond belief especially at the end of the long day. Our conclusion, at least from the hiking point of view, is that it would have been better to just retrace down Aasgard Pass once we had our fill of being enchanted by lakes.

I guess it would be better when draped in snow and when you get to ski down rather than trudging.

Coda: So the next day at the little sport shop in town, I was feeling pretty proud of myself as I was telling the woman at the counter that we had done the trip, and she said "Oh, I love that trip! I run it regularly."

I ran the loop this fall in 6 hours and change. That is what got me thinking about skiing it.

I ran it too in similar time.

Not sure how long it would take on a tour. From a stability point of view I think I'd want to be coming down Asagard pass rather than going up it but there are however a lot of possible slide routes on the snow lake side also. You won't get the lakes in the winter obviously! Maybe a nice high pressure inversion if we're unlucky enough to get one again this season?

You might want to PM Snow Bell. He recently toured up to Asagard Pass and has conditions info.
I think it was very scary icy with rocks. Bring boot crampons, ice-axes and cojones!

I was up there the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.  We spotted a vehicle down lower on the Icicle hoping for an extended tour through the Enchantments but opted out.  There is very little snow up there and while the higher lakes should be a fine tour, the trip down would be inconsistent snow and troublesome.  The trail up to Colchuck Lake is skinable the whole way (although frozen solid).  The climb up Aasgard Pass was dangerous and somewhat difficult.  Crampons and axe are a must.  We elected to return via Colchuck Lake and climbed and skied down Aasgard.  While thrilling to me, some may not enjoy the icy perils contained in this pitch.
It could surely be a great tour but I personally would not do it right now and unfortunately I am not optimistic about the likelihood of good coverage this spring.

I hope this helps.
