Looking for maps for area near Duffey Lake and Marriot basin. Any idea where I can get hold of these before heading over the border?

Thanks!

In Seattle you may find at Metsker near Pike Place
www.metskers.com/

In Vancouver you may find them at MEC
www.mec.ca/

Both places carry Canadian maps but they are rather hit or miss on what they have in stock.

Did you know that high-res scans of all 1:50K and 1:250K Canadian topo maps are now available online for free?

Visit geogratis.cgdi.gc.ca/geogratis/en/index.html and click on "All collections". Unfortunately, that site can be a bit difficult to navigate and find what you need. Here are direct links to the map indexes:
Index Maps of the National Topographic System of Canada or ftp://ftp.nrcan.gc.ca/ess/topo/NTSIndex-SNRCIndex/

The two most useful map sets are:
CanMatrix - Print Ready, Digital Topographic Maps of Canada , 300 dpi TIF and PDF files
CanMatrix (Georeferenced) - Digital Topographic Maps of Canada , 300 dpi TIF files
along with the satellite photos:
CanImage - Landsat 7 Orthoimages of Canada, 1:50 000 , 72 dpi TIF files

If you already know which map number you need, here are the actual scanned map images:
ftp2.cits.rncan.gc.ca/pub/ , and look in "canmatrix2" for the print-ready files, "canmatrix" for the georeferenced, and "canimage" for the photos.

The nice thing about this versus paper maps is that you can crop and print only the portion you need, or join adjacent topo maps in an image-editing program.

I noticed a few weeks ago that google maps has topo data in the 'terrain' feature, even in Canada! No more need to carry around the huge 1:50,000 maps.
