When the KAKA hits the fan! Priorities was created by Scotsman
Last night at the height of the storm my house flooded. We called the Fire Department as we thought our flat roof had failed. By the time they arrived the lower floor was awash in three inches of water and water was streaming through the ceilings and down the walls. The FD feared that the roof would collapse and so ordered us out of the house but allowed us to gather some belongings.
My wife Pam, being of pragmatic prairie stock gathered some clothes and all our financial and insurance papers. Stewart gathered all his video games, computers and ipod.
I was caught by my wife coming out of the house laden with skis, boots, poles and my ski bag! She was rolling here eyes in the way that wives do and I said" WHAT......!!!"
The FD worked tirelessly for the next two hours, on the roof , cleaning gutters, moving out furniture. They had pumps downstairs and you know you are in trouble when the FD are carrying sandbags INTO your house. The wind was blowing hard and the rain falling in torrents but they managed to protect a lot of our belonging and I will forever be in gratitude to them. The rain stopped about 1.30am but the water kept coming and then Pam says maybe it's a water main! The FD turns off the water and the flood stops.
This morning I am siting at the computer, tired, unshaven and dirty and somewhat morose. Pam looks over and says" don't worry we'll get it all fixed up." I reply, "I know , I'm not worried about that , it's just that the Crystal Mountain website says they are opening on Friday and it could be a powder day and I can't go because we've got the meet the dam loss adjuster!"
I have just spent the last hour getting what I think is called " A GOOD TALKING TO" about my priorities.
In all honesty, I still think I had my priorities right but don't tell her!

Man... what a stressful mess that must be. I spent 4 or 5 days vacuuming water out of our carpets last December, but it was nothing like you describe. Too bad the water main didn't get checked earlier, but with as much rain as was coming down I guess I'm not surprised...
And yeah... your priorities seem in-line

Maybe you should take the FD skiing in appreciation Friday.......how could the wife dis that? "These brave men need a day of relaxation after their heroic efforts, and honey, I'm the one to chaperone them!"

Plan and scheme away but to no avail as Crystal is not opening tomorrow (Friday). And to really dampen your spirits, here's the NOAA forcast
Saturday Night: Snow likely before 10pm, then rain likely. Snow level 5300 feet rising to 7900 feet. Cloudy and breezy, with a low around 29. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Sunday: A chance of rain before 10am, then a chance of rain and snow. Snow level 7500 feet lowering to 6600 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 33. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Sunday Night: A chance of rain. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 31.
