I've successfully used aluminum shim stock and pop rivets in the same capacity as the grommets above. It's my favorite skin attachment - the looped over tip loop always collects snow on my other skins.

How'd you make the lengthwise cut? Metal ruler as a guide?

I cut it in half lengthwise and planned to sew on webbing loops to make a set of cheap skinny skins.

trump...
Afraid I'm not that precise. I just tied off one end & eye-balled the cut (the skin was only about 3.5" wide) with a pair of heavy metal shears, while a helper tensioned the material. Then I seared the new edges with a BBQ lighter. Probably one could also use an exacto knife & straightedge while the skin was stuck to a scratchable surface like a junk ski mounted in a vise?

I found that exposing the center strip where the glue is covered from the folded-over tip portion kept my tip loops from unfolding.
