Weeknight rando rendezvous? was created by Lowell_Skoog
Last year there was some talk on TAY about organizing evening sessions at Summit Central to exchange ideas and practice rando-rally techniques. The idea would be to meet other people who enjoy climbing on skis, get some exercise, and maybe even learn something.
Anybody interested in this?
I've done a few rando sessions by myself at Summit Central and think they're a lot of fun. Maybe I'm peculiar, but I enjoy just stretching my legs and moving up and down the hill on skis, even inside the ski area. I've got a circuit that stays near the edges of the area and so far the ski patrol hasn't hassled me.
If anybody is interested in this, we could discuss options. I've been thinking along these lines:
Other ideas?

If anybody is interested in this, we could discuss options. I've been thinking along these lines:
- Tuesday or Wednesday evening
- Carpool from Issaquah Park & Ride
- Arrive at Summit Central 6:00-6:30pm
- Head home around 9:00-9:30pm

Will there be a lot of Skooging!
Let me explain what I mean and Lowell I hope you aren't offended as it's meant as a compliment.
Last year I went on a tour with Lowell, Joedabaker and Marcus.
On this tour there was a lot of gradual uphill travel where Lowell and the boys didn't put on skins but managed to progress uphill without them. I was impressed by how quick they moved in the BC.
I found this exhausting until I found the correct position to enable uphill progress without too much backsliding. They moved very fast and I had trouble keeping up all day and was very tired but impressed with the three of them.
I was out with Snow Bell a week later and I mentioned the amount of travel we had performed without skins and Snow Bell being quick with words, called this mode of travel "Skooging".
We spent the rest of the tour coming up with a Wikipedia definition of Skooging and using the term frequently, such as " I think I'll just Skoog across this bit ," or "I Skooged up to the saddle."
Our Wikipedia definition was; " Prolonged gradual uphill travel on skis with a free heel and no skins".
So be warned as if there is a lot of "Skooging" on these evening tours, you will be tired.

I have skooged a few times...not as efficiently as I'm sure is possible though.
I'd be game to meet up, sounds like fun!

Ha! That was a great day. Skooging indeed -- I was skooging my butt off to keep up with Lowell at the end of the day.
Sounds like a fun idea Lowell -- I might join in for a time or two.

I could use some uphill work for sure, I'm also interested in learning this "Skooging" technique. I'd try out an evening and see what happens, wednesdays I can do.
