If you can't find what you like around Revelstoke, there used to be a nice XC network with a warming hut near the ski area in Golden. This was many years ago before they dramatically expanded the lifts, so you'd probably want to check first, but I remember it vividly because it was the only time I ever got close to a lynx.

You're looking for Meadows in the Sky Parkway. It's rated "simple" according to ParksCanada, so probably appropriate for cross-country skis. The road is on the northeast side of town. Here's a link:

( Look for the SIMPLE trails in Mt. Revelstoke National Park. ) There are some other options nearby, including the ski in to Asulkan Valley, which is also rated SIMPLE ( up to the Wheeler Hut ).

(topic drift)
Has anyone skiied the alpine area in Revelstoke this year? From what I read, it sounds like I've got to take a trip up there.

I did a week ago. It was awesome. Tall, empty, friendly and cheap. The terrain is huge and the snow is great. They could have used a little more base for top to bottom ripping in the trees which looks to be epic.
We really enjoyed drinks and pizza at the village idiot downtown. The wait staff had great advise for terrain. The hostel is also a great deal.

There are groomed xc ski trails on the mountain across the Columbia from Revelstoke. Mt. Mcpherson, I believe. It uses the same parking as is used by skiers for the "Fingers," a popular Alpine touring area close to town.
