This ol' boy has ben pricing out day-tickets froms plains to sea. It has gotten out of hand what big name resorts are unabashed to charge for a realistic 5&1/2-7hrs of snow slashing.

My curious question is:

What ski area is dollar for dollar is most worth the purchase of a day pass.

For me, no matter how meager the terrain, the mom and pop areas are the only ones that come close to a value/chairlift situation. (I love Snowbird and Heavenly).

I respect every opinion and I encourage all to comment.

Wahl, by golly, if mom & pop is Ok with you, then ya kint go wrong at Chelan's Echo Valley! Three rope tows ( 2 fer kids, plus 2 fer us growed ups) and a poma lift that'll goose ya fer purt near 500 feet. An thuh views! why I betcha kin see 2000 acres o' the purtiest sagebrush from the top. An man kin they do corderoy! All that, just a mite over 6 hours from Seattle, spittin distance, if ya ask me. Thu hours is good, too, but don't count on night skiin' less it's a full moon. ;)

Purple Black Diamond Skins (~$75 and all the vert your quads can handle)!

;)

Seriously though, for my money Baker is the go-to place.
Homewood in Tahoe is still keepin it real.

Mt Rose in Tahoe used to be another before they went upscale.
Mammoth Mtn used to be great before McCoy sold out.

BAKER! 40$ for a open gate policy and copious snowfall, plus  a no BS attitude.......what more could you want, besides access to $20 burgers at the summit? ;)

point well taken re skins-you've got your own high speed quads

Baker for sure. On a clear day (views) you can't beat it. And if any place has snow, it's Baker.

This year it is $43.17 plus tax on weekends, $35.75 plus tax on weekdays. I think the cash discount is 5% off that (web site does not say the amount of cash discount).

If you have a 5th grader, don't forget they are eligible for a free season pass (apply in advance, you can't just show up).

If you have a toddler, a great perk is that the tow at Heather Meadows (weekend only) is free (I think this is still true, it has been in prior years). I have taken my daughter up there for the day and just rode the tow, hot chocolate in the lodge, then go sledding just outside the ski area. It's a great day with zero lift ticket costs.

For cost, you have to figure in the distance from where you start, which loads your day with time cost of travel. From Bellingham, Baker is an unbelieveable deal.

I guess the other good news is that places in BC are all on sale at 20% off due to currency. As silly as it seems, Whistler with an EDGE card is now about $50 US a day.

Baker! definitely! It's almost tough to justify the cost of their $700 season pass with weekday prices so low...and easy poaching.
