JEFFREY P. MAYOR

Paradise echoed Monday not with the voices of park visitors, but with the thump and crash of a 4,500-pound wrecking ball smashing through the old visitor center.......

......The tough carcass of the Henry M. Jackson Visitor Center proved vexing for the crane operators Monday working to demolish the old structure....

Guess this means the road works! Mighty hard to move demolition equipment and manpower, along with "the 25 park employees who came to watch. The public could not attend because the park is closed while crews repair flood damage to Nisqually Road."

Here's hoping they'll have the road open to, you know, cars by late this week!

They are demolishing the wrong building IMHO, it should be the Park Administration building! Get them away from their desks.

Why are they so bad at communicating?
Is the road closed due to flood damage or closed because of flood damage AND the expediency of keeping people out while demolition is in progress which I can understand.
They should communicate accurately.

"Onlookers gasped when the wrecking ball – slightly smaller than a 55-gallon drum and weighing as much as a full-size pickup truck – plunged through the roof but broke from its cable. The ball slowly tumbled off the roof before crushing a small pine tree on the ground."
