I'm finding out there are a bunch of ski areas that you can't camp in the parking lots. I haven't found a place to park in the Tahoe area period. (except Kirkwood @ $25/night or $200/season)

Please, any van camping at friendly ski area suggestions/recommendations will be appreciated.

Washington:
Baker - free/allowed
Crystal- parking lot near hookups
Stevens- free back lot
Snoqualmie-free near Central ski patrol bldg and upper Alpental lot
White Pass- lot across from lodge

Oregon:
Timberline-parking lot in designated area
Meadows-designated area near main lodge
Bachelor-designated lot near lower lodge

California:
Kirkwood - $25 night
Mammoth-designated lot or stay at hot springs

Idaho:

Montana:

Wyoming:

Utah:

Colorado:

New Mexico:

Being a couple of old retired ski bums  ;), Jill and I have stayed in the following sites with our campervan:

WA:
Baker - upper lot or at White Salmon lodge lot
Crystal- parking lot near hookups
Stevens- free back lot
Snoqualmie-free near Central ski patrol bldg and upper Alpental lot
White Pass- lot across from lodge

OR:
Timberline-parking lot in designated area
Meadows-designated area near main lodge
Bachelor-designated lot near lower lodge

Tahoe:
Buy a CA SnoPark pass for $25 and stay at most SnoParks. Get list of SnoParks with pass and those that do not allow overnight parking.

Mammoth-designated lot or stay at hot springs

Most ski araes have an area for overnight parking, I usually talk to their security folks or customer service folks and they will provide sites.

Thanks for the parking info Zap, I've read many of you posts in the process of figuring this out.

One question though, the sno park folks said I couldn't sleep in my van at any sno park sites. I would have to go off and sleep in the woods for it to be legal to park overnight.

Ever heard of this?j

Cheers,

If you happen to be over at Ski Anthony Lakes in eastern Oregon they are more than happy to have you camp in the parking lot. Free.

We have slept in our campervan at various CA SnoParks without any problems. We have had visits by CA state patrol during our stays without any problems.

As Ian mentioned, Ski Anthony Lakes is camper friendly and offers free electric hookups and they are within 30 yards of the lift.

I also used to sleep in a couple different snowparks around Tahoe from time to time. It worked fine, no issues.

BTW, I think the CA snowpark permits used to work in OR and WA snowparks as well. There was some sort of reciprocation agreement between the 3 states at the time. Not sure if that's still the case, but if it is, then maybe you can purchase a snowpark permit locally.
