Joe,
I initially bought them to replace velcro straps that had lost their stickiness. I found the power straps much easier to deal with in the field during transitions as wetness , icing etc had no effect on my ability to tighten them down. The added benifit I found was that they do, in my opinion, significantly aid in the responsiveness of the boot and also allow some progressive flex as you really force your shins into the tounges. With the Vecro straps you reach a point of no more give. With the power straps they keep giving. You can buy them in one, two or three ply depending on how burly you ski.

I like them so much that when I bought a new pair of Axons's , I immediately took off the velcro straps  supplied and replaced them with Booster Straps. I've also put them on my wife's boots.
As you know , with my skiing abilty I need all the help I can get from technology

See link www.skimetrix.com/freeskier.php

I followed the link that Scotsman provided and noticed that the skiers using Booster straps are all upside-down and sideways. Are the straps supposed to work that way?  ;) ;) ;)

YES. Thats why they suit my skiing as I am usually upside down and sideways although not intentionally. ;)

I'm replying as Sam...but it's really Lori, I'm to lazy to log on under my account...
I've discovered a new way to use the power straps, last season I went to Jim Mates, boot fitter, for some footbeds for my AT and Tele boots.  He suggested I use the power strap inside the shell, but over the liner/tongue.  It has improved performance all my boots, including my alpine boots.  Always the right tightness...never migrates off the shell.  Oh, and if you still want booster straps, and you're on the eastside, World Cup skier service has had them in the past.

I use them under the shell as well, Lori. They make a big difference in upper cuff pressure and tightness with my smaller touring boots and I usually set them in the morning and then don't fiddle with them at all. For skinning, I can blow the buckles open more for comfort and the strap helps keep the foot snug while letting the tongue of the boot move around. Well worth it.

Joe I think you are not missing the party, but perhaps just getting in when the getting is getting good....
What I most appeciate about them is the speed of adjustment. To loosen, flex boot forward and press the metal buckle, even if it is under gaiter, cuffs, snow, etc. To tighten, grab end and tug. No need to lift cuffs, gaiters, etc....
Plus they stiffen the boot a bit.
