Does anybody know if turns will still be possible at Silver Peak this weekend?

Have not been in the N. basin since 7/7, though there was still plenty of snow then.

I was just in the E. Basin of Chair Peak on Monday and there was still adequate snow cover there which leads me to believe Silver would give you at least 500-600' of snow in the skiers left main gully.

I hiked to the top of Silver last night via the PCT and turn off trail to the peak. Skiing certainly would be possible, but might be a low ranking on the joy o' meter. Although I forgot my usual ski set up, I linked some enjoyable turns on my 32cm nikes. When I really set a hard edge/carve snow would fly into the top of my down-hill boot.
Looking down at the north facing basin from the top, turns still can be had. From above looking down the right side of the basin has the most snow. Might be 600-700' vert possible max as it looked like the snow continued into the woods a ways. A couple ways to get there I believe. You could drive (with a high clearance vehicle) or walk to the top of the logging road and follow a climber's trail up. This would help you avoid much bush wacking. Or, if more familiar with another trail than I am, there might be a decent route starting at the first creek the PCT crosses just after entering the timber.
Also, there's a run of similar vert on the east facing slope of the peak. A month ago or so I really wanted to ski it. It holds snow very well and you could ski from about 200' below the summit down to the PCT. West facing/Annette Lake side of the peak is totally snow-free. If you have time and want excersize, you could do a couple runs on either.

FYI, the mosquito's are nasty this year. Mid day they are not too bad, but early or late if your not wearing long sleeves/pants prepare for lots of swatting.
