Salmon la Sac Area was created by dave_perkins
I have done a few tours in the Salmon la Sac are. (Jolly Mountain, Davis Peak, Sasse Ridge and Hex). I was wondering if anyone else has done anything significant other than what is listed above. I would like to visit the area again before spring and am looking for something new. I don’t know too much about the area.

Thanks

I have heard that there was some significant avalanche activity in the Cle Elum valley. If you come across something please post a description, or a few photos.

I hear a house/cabin was damaged or destroyed by Davis Peak. I also hear that there were a number of avalanches across the road in the upper valley near Fish lake.

I was up there the day after those avys occurred. The Davis peak (or more properly Goat Pk) avy barely hit one cabin just past "Grandpa and Nana's Hideaway" (if you've been up there you know what I'm talking bout). The remarkable thing is that it appeared to have been a powder avy (lots of damage with seemingly little deposition). Two other large avys occurred on the groomer that goes E toward Hawkins. They appear to have been more tradional slab-like, and MASSIVE! I doubt photos would do them justice at this point.

Thanks for that update.

Those "powder" avalanches (dry slides) tend to be quite destructive, and often leave an unremarkable amount of snow debris. Good examples this winter have been the Lot 1 slide at Alpental, The south face of Granite Mtn., the massive tree trimming on Alta Mtn. (Gold Cr. side), and of course the house at Lake Wentachee.

Cheers,
