The cabin just past 'Grandpa and Nana's cabin was hit by the runout off Davis, which piled up 8'-10' of debris on the northwest side of the cabin and ran right up the roof, blew out some windows and came just short of destoying the cabin outright! This happened during the friday of the big avalanche cycle. The owner just had it dug out with a track hoe this past week. Ironically we were looking up that very track and into the starting zone up on Davis Mtn. this fall, wondering how often it ran, guessing it to be every 25 yrs or so given the size of regrowth. The cabin actually sits some 100' downstream, off the centerline of the avalanche track, so the slide must have been fast running, and really fanned out at the bottom. There is also supposed to be massive slide debris piled some 30' high over the road, further up near Fortune creek, which also ran down off the ridge on the northwest (left side as you drive up). It will be an interesting spring as we'll probably discover considerable avalanche debris blocking access up many of our favored backcountry access roads.
