Too foggy today to see the starting zone and the upper part of the track. The area in the deposition zone is where the Beacon Basin is located.
How apropos!

As for anyone who was out getting turns this past week as I have read in a bunch of other posts I hope extreme caution was being used. This really was not the week to be out touring and I'm thankful no one got killed up here this week. Seriously, everything was sliding this week up here. I was amased at all the fracture lines I saw yesterday when in cleared on every face, every aspect of Rampart Ridge and Kendal ridge. Hell, even the snowbanks were releasing all around the summit the summit area. I never even looked at my skis all week.

Looks like it slid over the old rope tow area. Do they have a beacon search area setup there?? That would be ironic!
The van was one of four cars in the slide. The others were able to drive away later.

Sounds like the making of some nice new runs in the future when things settle down. The Alpental slide is nothing compared to a slide that came down off of Alta Peak into Gold Creek Basin.
