Slide at Alpental? was created by dave_perkins
FYI
I just talked to a fried that is waiting to leave Alpental from lot 4.  I guess some cars got hit by a slide.  He thinks the Phantom may have went but wasn’t sure.  He said he would call me back when they open the road to tell me for sure.

Anyone else hear anything?

To paraphrase what I posted elsewhere, I was in the lot when it slid.

It appeared to come from the phantom area. It dropped about 3 feet of snow across the road, and into the first row of cars in lot 1. Two minvans got knocked into each other, a pickup was burried up to the windows, and the bed filled with debris. It was pretty scary to see a giant white cloud raining down. Visibility was too low to see where the crown and path were. The debris cloud was about 20-30 feet tall and at least 50 feet wide. It knocked down some good size firs. I was running as fast as I could, so I didn't get a real good look, but this is my recollection.

I'd love to check out ( from chair 1), the path and crown, but I would be surprised if the pass and/or alpental are open tomorrow, and even if so, they'll be buried under a couple of feet of fresh. If you hear anything, please let us know!

Oh, and about 5 or 6 inches of snow had fallen from 10am until the slope slid, and about 5 more inches from 3-5 pm So at around 10 inches in the 7 hours I was up there. On top of what fell overnight, which seemed to be considerably more than the telemetry indicated.
