I did notice that there is a sign as you leave one of the parking lots that says "no dogs", but have had my mutt w/ me before and seen other dogs there most every other time I've been (while they're closed). So, I wouldn't push it if someone had a problem, but they never have. Also, I've been approached by patrol @ central while skinning inbounds during operations (courteously out of the way), and was told "management" didn't want me on the mountain if I didn't have a pass. I told him I had one, but threw it out when I decided to skin for exercise. He said "no prob" and skied off.

Since Hyak is in the middle of a residential area you will see dogs from time to time, but usually at the base area. The "No Dogs and No Sleds" sign is routine and when the lodge is closed you should never have a problem hiking with your pooch. I used to always hike the mtn with my dog between 7-8:30 prior to opening, and my dog many times ran to the lifties as they opened the place (overly friendly). I never did have anyone say anything about my dog, but maybe they also knew I was a local? I made sure I was clear of the hill though before the lifts were going, and that there was no poop on the runs.
