Prior experience would say:
A) Don't go, no chance you will be sleeping all cozy inside.
Go for it, bring a tent, less cozy.
C) Your car will be broken into so rent one in Bellingham, and get the insurance
D) There should be plenty of room, New Years is not a Canadian holiday

The time I went I could not sleep because of the snoring!
Two experienced locals we met and skied with brough their tent and used it for sleeping but cooked and socialized in the hut. It got so bad I crept downstairs and tried to sleep on the floor.
I would take a tent and then if it was full you have options.
Also Telemon was telling me that they where talking about putting video cameras at the trailhead to try and deter car break-ins.
PM Telemon, he has a lot of experience with this hut.
Great place, I had fantastic skiing there.
Good luck.

Great info thanks Scots...I hope the car/parking situation is better than years past. I'll look Telemon up for more info. Do you think earplugs would help at all with the sleeping?

Earplugs might have helpt but it was snoring 7.5 on the Riechter Scale where the wooden bunks actually vibrate.
Hope you go and post a TR if you do!

Check your PMs, Tophervw.
Canadians celebrate New Years the same way as Americans. With the exception of those working in retail, most of us get New Years Day as a stat holiday. I bring earplugs to every cabin that I go to and I don't remember Elfin being any worse than the Mountaineer's cabin that I spent the last two nights.
Our bc is plagued with the same Dec3 ice layer as Washington and I question the wisdom of traveling back there. Good luck.

Earplugs weigh a lot less than a tent for the 8-mile approach. If you haven't already left, check the forecast: rising temps M & Tu. Happy New Year and let us know what you find---and how well you slept.
