I've done a couple DIY splits. Still in use today. Ive got the process pretty refined. When the board is together you cant even tell its a split. The hardest part is spliting it. Use a tablesaw and a straigtedge. Make sure the straightedge is at least double the length of you board. If you need any suggestions or help, feel free to email me.
