Just a heads up. Registration is limited to the first 250 people.

This symposium is a unique chance to learn from expert's real word experience. I'm looking forward to Sky's presentation about how he has chosen time and place to get to ski our biggest mountains safely and, often enough, in powder conditions. My experience is that getting both safety and good conditions on a big mountain in winter is a tough call. Also I want to hear Gary Brill's talk about buried surface hoar - that seems to have been behind quite a few serious accidents and I don't understand very well what to look for. There will be talks about multiple victim searches - another subject I feel hazy about, and detailed dissection of accidents with emphasis on how the victims made their wrong decisions. And more. Given that safety is the #1 concern of anyone contemplating a long life of backcountry skiing or boarding this is a real opportunity to learn useful stuff not otherwise easily available.
