Anyone have any current info on Shuksan? We are coming back up next Thurs (24th) to try her again. Trying to decide between White Salmon or Sulphide.
Any info is greatly appreciated!

The North Cascade snowpack has still seen almost no spring at all; just those two days of warmth last weekend. Forecast snow level in a few days is 500 feet! The White Salmon route should be unchanged from a few weeks ago. That would be my choice (on a stable day). The Sulphide should still be a much longer ski trip. That said, I haven't been there. I can't imagine a practical way to get to the Sulphide from the Nooksack Valley.

Thanks SB. If we choose the Sulphide we'd go in via the Baker Lake & Shannon Creek roads which is supposedly open but snow covered. Not quite sure what that means as far as what type of vehicle would be required to get up towards the trailhead.

Snow levels vary but up the Nooksack there's deep snow already at Twin Lakes Road start at 2,000 feet. Going up to Twin Sisters there's been continuous snow lately from 1800 or 1900 feet. Check on your map and see how far that gets you towards the Shuksan trail. Right now travel is slow because of the amount of deep, heavy, new snow. This should change with the cold weather of the next few days, but not necessarily for the better.

Argh - lost my post trying to attach photos!
Anyway we ended up accessing White Salmon via White Salmon lodge. Camped at ridge climbers right of WS. Excellent ascent and descent! Superb powder - we couldn't believe how good it was
We skipped the true summit for the 'skiers' summit because we didn't want to be too late getting back to the White Salmon and find wet snow. So I'm looking forward to another return trip! Your mountains rock!!
