Another vote for the Voile's. Here is a couple of hints --

1. Carefully center the mounting plate and mark it with the crampons attached before drilling to assure that the crampons will be easily attached in field. I did mine by eye and had to redrill.

2. Bend the tines ever so little outward so that they have less tendancy to gather snow and become slippery snowballs under your feet.

3. And, of course, as with everything Dynafit -- carry a whippet. Useful for de-icing under the toe plate, lifting the toe locks, and digging snowballs out of the crampons.

I ended up purchasing the Voiles via this site: www.voile-usa.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc..._&Category_Code=CMPN

Tim_Place, can you please explain "whippet" a bit further.  I gather you're talking about a small pick/probe to chip away that coastal snow/ice build-up?

Whippets are usually sold as self-arrest tools.  I seldom use them for that, but they have a thousand other uses-- handhold on an icey bulge, line control at lifts, scraping the snow build-up off the top of your skis, dynafitia fiddling.

Ditto on Voiles. I mounted mine in front of the bindings so I don't have to take the skis off to remove them.
