Mt. Adams in early April was created by eknomf
Does anyone have any current info on Adams? We are thinking of skiing it next week if the conditions look okay. I'm assuming the entire road from trout lake is too snow covered to drive - is this correct? I'm also wondering what elevation is best for traversing out of the SW chutes. Contouring 6700ft looked pretty promising from the maps but if anyone knows from experience that would help.

...Currious???
Whats wrong with starting at Morrison Camp and gaining the lower Avalanche and White Salmon basin via the "waterfall"?
I did that a few years back on foot to climb the White Salmon route, and it seemed staight forward to get to the basin. Is the upper parking lot that much better of an approach? I Was only there once and did'nt know better...thought we did hitch back after ther Carry over from the upper parking lot.
Does anybody climb the chutes first??

The chutes are steeper than I can skin up. But skiing down from the chutes to morrison creek campground seems like a good choice. I did it last year in june, but there wasn't enough snow to ski all the way. If there is enough snow, one could just follow morrison creek to the campground...and the road.

IMHO, It's a good idea to call the local ranger station for conditions before making that long drive. I have always found them to be friendly and helpful.

A call can get you the most current info, but
this
is usually kept pretty current. Look for 8040 if you want to get as close as you can to the south climb trailhead.

Open to near the Big Tree. Cool. What is it? 6-8 miles from the Big Tree to Morrison Creek campground.
