Heading to the interior of Canada in late Feb for a week. Ideally want to get into a cool backcountry area, stay at a hut and ski from there in days, nights at the hut.

Any ideas on where I can get info. on good bc huts and or trip in general? (i.e. is the a Burgdorfer for these area(s)?) is there a hut list somewhere? a turns all year for interior of BC or just B.C. in general.

thanks

One suggestion: look on the Alpine Club of Canada website. Google it... there are guide books, I think, but the ACC would be a good place to start. ACC has an extensive and wonderful hut system. Rogers Pass, etc.

Check out Wells Gray park, I have paddled and hiked there, with sking being high on my list next time I am back. A nice series of huts with some awesome backcountry, more of a wilderness type focus rather than steep turns and a hot tube though they seem to want o cater to folks going for turns also.

You might try to find someone with a copy of "Coulior" magazine. A few issues back they did a Hut issue with a huge selection. Each state/province had a large listing with contact information and web site information................

I can personally second the Wells Grey option. Check out this Trip Report from last spring telemarktalk.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=2...wells+gray+grey+park

FYI I don't think the people from Kamloops consider themselves to be living in the Interior of Canada.

rogers pass has very good bc touring, and there are 2 good options for accomodations: the best western at rogers pass (cheap, ok food on weekends, close to a number of areas, has hot tub!), and the ACC hut close by, i believe it is called the wheeler hut.

the burgdorfer equivalent would probably be chic scott's book.

there are a number of very detailed trip reports on tay from that area, search for 'rogers pass'.
