Greg, see my post above yours. I called Life-Link and they said they don't have the pins as parts. Hopefully I got an uninformed person and they can actually send some, in which case I'd love to hear about it.

YA

i liked the trabs a lot at first because they are super light and hold an edge fairly well. they have a wide shovel and narrow tail so they float and turn well in deep snow without getting a lot of tip-tail flop and firm snow from having too deep a sidecut. the miras are now my go-to ski because they are beefier and floatier but not that much heavier. i'm keeping the sintesis as a lighter touring over turns set-up, and will probably move the bindings to accomodate a really light pair of tlt3 boots i got for splitboarding. if you want to try them they are currently mounted for size US9 lasers. Thanks Greg. How do you like the Ski Trabs? I spoke at length with Mark and he mentioned I should try to convince you to let me try them, or at least get your feedback on them
I am looking at getting a pair of Freerides maybe.

Thanks for the feedback on the Classic.

YA

I imagine there are liability issues involved in the distributor officially sanctioning "modification" of the bindings . . . even if what we all would like is a regular TLT heel with longer pins and a DIN of 12!
I called Life-Link and they said they don't have the pins as parts.

Do we have to lie then. "Uh, hi, Life-Link, I broke the pins on my TLT Comforts, can I get new ones?"
You're probably right. And that lady definitely sounded like her knowledge of her products was shallow, and she soon started reading from the cheat sheet by her phone
. I guess that question is not in their FAQ. I asked someone else, we'll see.
DC - I think you may be over analyzing it a bit. Both the comforts and classics work extremely well for a lot of people...(after they figure out the little quircks)

I've have 3 sets of classics and once I got my first set adjusted to the correct gap have had no prereleases. For what it's worth they're on Jak BCs (04 totum poles), BD Miras and Volkl NJ Mountains. (this doesn't imply I think anything is wrong with the comforts, I just like the classic so stayed with it)

As for as boots - go with what fits you best. I used Dynafit All-Terrains (blue 3 buckle) for several years, but they never fit me all that well. Fortunately I broke the tongues last year so was able to use that as justification for Garmont Megarides.
Megarides fit my foot much better and are just as compatible with the classic binds as my previous boot.

I am looking at the Megarides too.

I think I am going to get the Comfort. The weight difference is pretty negligible (4 oz / pair according to Lou Dawson's weightings), and given that I can't help but ski aggressively (which the Dynafit may cure me of) longer pins = a bit more forgiveness.

Thanks all for your input. Now, who has a pair of Petzl Skalps crampons for sale?

drC
