It seems like not a heck of a lot is going to change in the next 5 or 6 days: high pressure mostly blocks storm track.<br><br>Anyone have any opinions about the couple of weeks after that other than "this is the northwest and you can't really tell but it ought to snow pretty soon?"<br><br>What do the long range models say? Are you confident about them?<br><br>thanks!

I'm not weather savy, but I did just read this in PDX Weather Discussion:<br><br>

NO MAJOR CHANGES IN THE WEATHER PATTERN UNTIL THURSDAY NIGHT OR FRIDAY MORNING WHEN A FRONT APPROACHES THE COAST. THE MODELS ARE BECOMING MORE CONSISTENT IN PORTRAYING THIS FEATURE HOWEVER THE PARENT LOW TRACKS INTO THE GULF OF ALASKA AND INLAND NEAR YAKUTAT. WITH A TRACK THIS FAR NORTH THE FRONT LIKELY TO WEAKEN VERY QUICKLY AS IT MOVES INLAND. THEREFORE THE HIGHER PRECIPITATION ACCUMULATIONS WILL BE WITH THE WESTERLY FLOW BEHIND THE FRONT ON FRIDAY AND FRIDAY NIGHT. COOLER AIR MOVING ALOFT ASSOCIATED WITH A SIGNIFICANT SHORTWAVE TROUGH COMBINED WITH ONSHORE FLOW WILL SUPPORT SHOWERY ENVIRONMENT WITH SNOW LEVELS FALLING TO AROUND 4000 FEET.[

NICE!! Good to see a favorable change. This weather has been unusual for November for sure.

Does anyone know what wheather factors contribute to these high pressure ridges that we are experiencing now and that ruined our winter last year? I would think that if there is a high pressure ridge somewhere, that eventually it would have to move into a nearby low pressure area.
