I wore leashes all three days.
Modifying the leashes as the new tlt bindings don't allow you to remove them from the binding leash. They provide a nice binding attachment with a solid ring. The leash on the ring is bar tacked and looks like it will break with the right amount of force (about 50 lbs. I would guess). I have attached clips to the ankle leashes so I can remove the leashes during long ascents and simply clip them to the binding ring to descend.

Hope that you will get out with the Bham crew soon.

The skis were so good for about 25 ski area runs and 6 powder tour days, until one broke.

Today my Dynafit heel screws pulled out on one side *while ascending* deep pow on a narrow ridge. I was climbing on the red post. I switched the ski to the other foot and put it on the lowest walking position to finish the 50 vf to the summit. Fortunately, one route from the summit that I had previously ascended was only 500 vf down and about one mile from the snowmobile. I gently skied down with the toepiece only and out the flat trail. Just before finishing that relatively flat mile (mostly schuss) the ski broke beneath the rear binding position.

I cannot recall a fall on the skis, or any reason that they should break.

The Pro Ski folks are going to talk with Dynafit tomorrow.

Hopefully I will get some replacement skis. I felt very screwed (like many, I am sure) with the Tristep bindings (first and second years) and got not even an apology from Dynafit.

I guess I will be skiing deep pow on my old 107mm/75 waist K2 Shuksans tomorrow.

Thou shalt not take the Lord Dynafit's name in vain!

Sounds like you may have had a bad mounting job performed (or the ski really was defective). I would assume these skis are some kind of foam core, possibly with air-channels through it to lighten the ski further. Mounting into a channel or in such a way that the screws come loose and gouge out more material can cause a ski to break... I had it happen once with the old SuperLoop on a ~70mm waist foam core ski. Lighter is rarely more durable ... unfortunately. I would expect new skis from Dynafit though, they shouldn't break so easily.
It appears that the top layer separated and then the ski had no strength. The considerable stiffness and strength seems to come from the "box" around the foam.

As you have seen, I have enjoyed the skis and practically promoted them. Hopefully I will get replacements so that I can continue to enjoy them.

I have not pulled a binding out since I pulled a 3-pin binding off of my 220 cm Karhu XCD in '84.

Too bad about the broken ski. Although I can't speak to the overall durability of the ski I have put 20 days on my dynafits without any concerns. Eight days of Baker backcountry and the rest of the time at Rogers Pass and Fairy Meadows. I have pushed them hard and skied some difficult conditions. Coming down Grizz Shoulder at the Pass I encountered dust on an unyealding crust with little coverage. Popping short turns on the ice and off of downed trees was no problem for the skiis. If there was an inherent weakness in the skiis they would have broken in those conditions. In fact, one member of our party did break one of his Atomic skiis in the challenging conditions. I weigh 175 and have been skiing the 187 size. At Fairy Meadows, I hammered the skiis in the trees below OutPost Peak. Steep pillow lines, small jumps and steep couliors were not a problem. Let us all know what you hear from Dynafit. (By the way, I did my own mounting using Dawson's template and I mounted my bindings with smaller drill bit holes to give the screws more bite. Epoxy was used of course as well.)
