Oh...and Lahar_Dar, sorry but the eye doctor also informed me that there is nothing you can do about it. And that the person who invents a cure would be quite popular.

I also would like to thank you for describing something I have experienced here and there since I was a child. As a kid I remember making it through long drives by trying to control them, with only limited success.

I occasionally have those floaters when the sun is bright and reflecting off the snow. A couple of years ago there was a group of us leading a glacier travel class across the Nisqually Glacier at MRNP on a bright sunny day in April. When I looked down at the snow I thought that my floaters had increased to an uncomfortable level, but it was glacier ice worms , which had the illusion of looking just like eye floaters.<br>

Thats funny Mad Dog! I agree, that would be an uncomfortable level. More information can be found by typing "eye flaoters" in Google and floating around the many sites. Some are very informative. It seems that unless there is structural damage to the eye, (detachment) floaters are benign. For very bad conditions, two procedures can be done. Laser treatment to break up the chains, (one Dr. in Florida) and/or a viterous fluid exchange where surgeons replace your natural fluid with saline. Also, some think that antioxidants can help to keep more floaters from forming by giving "free radicals" something to bind to. Psychological approaches have been used also to minimize distraction. Thanks for the responces, at least I know I am not one of a few, which makes it easier.

Dang it, I've always wondered what those things are. When I was a wee lad I also tried to control them. It made for great entertainment. I once thought they were scars inside my eyes...don't ask me why. Mine don't bother me in the slightest...otherwise I'd be planning a ski trip for Florida to visit with the doctor...they have mountains, right?
