Mission Ridge Quad was created by mej
For anyone who is interested, I took a hike up the ridge on Saturday to check out the progress. The huge trench holding the snowmaking pipes is buried and seems to be done. The quad on the other hand, isn't. The bottom station doesnt have anymore than a frame up and the cables are draped lazily over the towers, almost reaching the ground. No chairs on yet either. I hope the remaining work can be done faster than it seems, b/c they don't have much time left. About an inch on the ground and snow falling. Was tempted to take one of the old chair two chairs home, but they were locked up anyway. Made away with an old cable wheel though. And the bullwheel is sitting up there just begging to be made into a chandelier. ;)

Rumors are that the chair two parts will be used to upgrade chair three. This will leave chair three parts free to become chair five. This assumes the staff is smart enough to lock everything up; or that folks realize chairlift parts are more valuable if they have a chairlift to be attached to.
I thought about that. This part was clearly not going to be used again. There is a heap of bent and wrecked metal at the bottom of the hill. The wheel was dented really bad. It looks like they let the towers just fall over when they brought them down. There are chairs sitting up at chair 3 that look like they may be used. Smilie added for clarification. I guess an argument could be made that even in its ruined state the wheel still belonged to Mission Ridge, in which case you are correct in characterizing it as theft. But I would say that a more accurate metaphor would be to find something interesting in a dumpster and to take it home.

Ok, Ok enough rationalization. I feel guilty now. I'm gonna drop it back off up there. I don't think my brain was on when I took the wheel, because even though it is really damaged, I certainly didn't want to take something possibly still valuable to the ski area, I just wanted something for posterity.

To the two involved in the dispute which hijacked this thread:
I have deleted your posts.

To "R":
The initial part of your post, with the suggestion that this thread's originator might reconsider his acquisition, was very useful and in fact appears to have prompted a change in mind. The rest of your post, unfortunately, pretty much undid this positive community service by attacking someone not even involved in this thread.

To "A":
I can understand that you would be upset about "R's" post, but it is not appropriate to post the information you posted.

To both "R" and "A":
This is a skiing forum, not a dispute resolution center. I doubt that there is anyone here who cares to read about your dispute. If you wish to continue your dispute, please take it elsewhere (this includes the Trip Reports IM service). Thanks.

Charles
