What lift does the quad replace? Right from the lodge, or the upper chair to the summit? Hope to make it over there this year. What's the minimum base depth for good coverage in the upper bowls??

The quad replaces chair 2, which goes from the midway shack to the summit of the ski area. I would say 40 inches up top will keep you reasonably safe, but 50 or more is necessary to not have to think about rocks (all relative). Local knowledge is critical though to avoid the chronic rocky places, where there always seems to be 4 inches of powder on bare rock all season (i.e. Bowl 5). Windy ridge gets the most blow in and covers fastest. I have hiked it many times before opening though, and the groomers are ok with 18 unpacked inches.
