There is a guy up in Whistler, his name is George McConkey, he basically invented the boot punch and had been doing it for 20, 30, 40 years, something like that (started in Cali).
I spent 3 days trying on about 40 boots. The only consensus that I got from the boot sellers was go see George. He had me take off my shoes and then told me to boot to buy, it happened to be the one that fit best from the past 3 days of trying, his eyeball was that tuned. I did not tell him and I had not bought anything yet. Since he does not sell boots, I bought them and took them to him for the fitting. It cost about $125 canadian (about 4 years ago).
I tried to get custom liners and foot beds (he sells both) and he told me not to bother as my feet did not need them. He has a 1 year guarentee on the fit. He does all of the Whistler hardcores. That season I put 85 days on the boots in 4.5 months and never even loosened them in the lodge they were so comfy.
He can be found at McCoos in Whistler and in my opinion is worth the drive alone.

As already mentioned, Jim Mates is great at it.

I can also vouch for George at Mcoos in Whistler Village! I have had boot problems all my life.

He combines expert punching of what he calls simple boots (For my foot he prefered the Solomon XWave) with Intuition liners. I was pretty amazed that the boot was comfortable the first day and perfect after about 3 more days of skiing

George is a master. I don't think there are very many people who do what he does. I agree it is worth the drive.

fyi, if it involves plastic boots, Dave Page probably won't help you. I went to get a buckle installed on my dynafit MLT4s last week, and he didn't want to do it.

I went to Sturtevants instead.

ProSki on 99(206-525-4425) does excellent boot work, and unlike Sturtavants, is a backcountry skiing shop that seems to sell and service most of the equipment that your average TAY poster might actually use. I've been to see Jim Mates before as well- he did good work, but left my wallet much thinner than ProSki.
