Moving to New Mexico was created by prgsmall
Hey Fellow TAY'ers,

I want to say goodbye to everyone that I have met and skiied with over the last three years. I have accepted a job in Los Alamos, New Mexico and will be moving there in October. On to experience a drier snow, a different snow pack, plenty of back country ski opportunities, but alas most likely not in June through October, unless I travel north to Colorado. I value the comraderie that I found and the people that I have met through TAY. I look forward to following the exploits on Mount Rainier and threaten to show up in the spring after the snow melts in NM to ski some corn on the volcanos. My daughter still lives here so I will be visiting. My new place is only 20 miles from Pajarito ski area and 40 miles from Santa Fe Ski area, so if anyone is going to be in the area, let me know and I will take you out to some new stashes that I will have discovered.

Stay well, my friends, and stay in the fall line!

Peter (aka prgsmall)

I lived in Santa Fe , NM for 8 years and only moved here three years ago. New Mexico is great. The skiing at TAOS is fantastic and very steep. Hike Katchina Ridge off the top tow and ski BC to your heart's content.
PS Bring and wear sunscreen, unlike here, the sun shines a lot in winter.
Good luck and enjoy the green chile!

On the note about green chile...when in Taos eat a place called "Jack's", or was it "Jake's"...anyway, it's just on the main road south (?) of town...we went there expecting nothing and after waiting outside in the cold winter air we were treated to some of the best NM food I've ever had....green chile galore and sopapias (sp?)...the spice required at least 2 beers....keep an eye out for the funky decorating...the entire place is decorated with crucifixes (sp?...my catholic grandmothers are rolling over right now) and candles....funky...and look for the hand of satan reaching out of the kitchen....enjoy!
