They are simply weak of spirit, their souls annexed by scourgeful urbanization. If only someone could remind them that sucess is meaningless without happiness...Sooo . . . if a simple and relatively inexpensive tool like a bicycle, in the hands of a moderately fit individual, can solve the problems of traffic congestion, vehicle-related polution, expensive gasoline, road rage, lack of monorail/light rail system, no time for exercise and job-related stress . . . why isn't everyone doing it?

Our culture is based on the automobile. And if nothing shakes you out of it, you'll avoid the unknown, and never buy the bike and ride it. I think most people simply don't consider it.

And most people prefer to ski down the mountain, so maybe we're just freaks?Sooo . . . if a simple and relatively inexpensive tool like a bicycle, in the hands of a moderately fit individual, can solve the problems of traffic congestion, vehicle-related polution, expensive gasoline, road rage, lack of monorail/light rail system, no time for exercise and job-related stress . . . why isn't everyone doing it?

Or is a group of people willing to hike for hours to enjoy a few minutes of sliding down a mountain the wrong bunch to ask?

Coming from the guy who spends $500 on a light for his bike....inexpensive

Admittedly, my dress style has changed. I have a closet-full of t-shirts and swimming trunks. It is great apparel for biking and working in a lab.

Maybe I don't smell like flowers and have a perfectly gelled hairdo, but being in shape is attractive too. If a day comes along that I have to look preened for something, I can either take the bus, or freshen up at work (there are even showers).
Maybe for some of us "girlie-mon" types, it could be that beautiful helmet head hairdo afterwards
