Does anyone have experience with Trab or Goode skis?

The weight of these skis makes them appealing. Does anyone know how they perform? Has anyone skied them?

Well, can't say anything about the skis but I do have a pair of Goode carbon poles. I've had them for about 15 years now and haven't had to many problems with them, mainly stuff I have caused. The few times I had to deal with customer service they were great. If I needed to purchase parts they have always supplied them to me directly.

I would also like to hear something about the Goode skis. I was considering getting a pair of thier fatter skis but the price has always held me back.

Aaron

Trabs have received mediocre reviews, although they are quite popular in Europe, great for uphill, not so strong downhill. There are a few local lurkers here on tay who have personal experience....

Goode have much better reviews, but yikes the price! Of course, think about what better to spend $800 on, eh? Get some Goode's, mount them for size 27.5 TLT4s, and let me borrow them, ok?

Most any ski works great in powder or corn, no? It's the no fun conditions that differentiates the cream from the crap? Hope someone with Goode experience in Cascade concrete or trap crust will enlighten us about their performance.

The cost makes it an ongoing debate in my mind- I could have purchased other proven gear if the Goode skis would not work for me . Nearly a pound of weight reduction per foot compared to my Shuksans sounds appealing, but is it worth the cost of nearly two pair of some randonnee skis? Yes, if the performance is there in some stiff manky snow, hardpack, and soft snow. And then there is always the very true argument about a pound off yer gut being less expensive...I have been working on that on my mountain bike, since August skiing looks to be hardly worth the drive.

If the performance matched the Shuksans, which work ok, although not stiff enough for me to ski very aggressively (I should save that for the lifts and my lift skis) then Goode skis would be a planned purchase. I recall when I took out my wife's Atomic light randonnee skis some years ago and found them great for hiking up but seriously disappointing for solid turns- easy but weak- to the point that I could have brought my old light tele gear and floundered around equally, albeit at a fast pace. On the other hand, I own some Hagan Valdez Extreme randonnee skis that are very stiff and stable @ 1700 grams each (= speed limit is somewhere faster than the stupidly fast rate that I tried once) but rather insensitive to nice powder, and I enjoy powder turns not just big fast arcs. It would be a disappointment to purchase the Goode skis then find them to be superlight noodles, although I have no information that they are one way or the other.

At this point I am considering putting another year on my Shuksans, which I like just fine, until or unless I get some convincing feedback on the Goode skis.

Just curious . . . where did you see these reviews, and what models were they talking about? I've been thinking about the Duo Sint Aero, but they aren't exactly cheap either - a comparison test of sub-1100 gram skis would be interesting.Trabs have received mediocre reviews

I contacted the Western US distributor at wasatchski@netzero.net (from skitrab.com). He replied twice to my emails, and provided names and references for Trab skis. He is also very excited about and complimentary of Trab skis (he sells them).
