Both vibes are correct.
Morning session was absolute horrible...humanity at its worst.. I'm with Myikat.
Snowboarders tried to do a TRIPLE " chat and cut" in the Gondi line.... I told them" Single "chat and cut "acceptable, double makes my testicles curl but I may accept it if I'm a good mood  BUT  I ain't standing for a TRIPLE cut and chat! No way, so they went to the back.
Kinda impressed they tried a TRIPLE though.

The whole pass holder and day pass lines having different start times is bullshit, confusing and divisive.
Never again...I will go touring in the morning rather than put up with the frenzy.

The frenzy to ski a few turns in" wet powder" as one tourist called it was like some mass brainwashing caused by social media and marketing hype.
Holy fuck are we fuckedy fucked.

BTW.." WET POWDER" is an oxymoron.....

However... by lunch time the  "wet powder Hounds" had all tired themselves out and a nice afternoon session was possible with no lift lines.

BTW GnarBLane... I'd be careful about boasting about ducking ropes and poaching closed areas and then posting a video with clearly distinctive helmet markings etc. Karma can be a real bitch and the pros from Dover don't boast about poaching or post evidence.

I abide by the rules, I did my due diligence and checked with the patrol guy first, he was stationed right next to the green valley lift. Poor guy was there all day. Ducking the rope was a poor choice of words, I navigated around some obstacles as it was there to block access to northway.

I hear ya on the season pass and "ticket holders" line I stood in the gondola line with my wife for 20 minutes before I was told it was "season pass" only. I was salty about that, very salty.

I agree.... I think its bullshit...and I'm a Season pass holder. If they want to offer Season pass holders some perks....then do something different but the two lines were just unmanageable and stooooopid.

This entire thread is exactly why I avoid Crystal unless I have no other choice.

And all the snowboarder "hate" - that's the same logic drivers use to blithely generalize the behavior of one cyclist to everyone on a bike (and vice versa). The reality is, pardonnez mon Français, there are assholes in this world who will behave like assholes no matter how many planks they ride downhill and your biases (conscious or otherwise) are preventing you from realizing that people who use your preferred equipment are assholes, too.

Enjoy your soup - if you need me I'll be lapping the padded seats at Boyne's redheaded step-child WA resort.

Kudos .... your boycott of our southern resort will be deeply felt and I just wish more would follow your courageous stand and stay away in protest. that would teach us assholes the lesson we deserve.
I know I am going to think deep and hard about any ingrained bigotry I may have towards snowboarders tonight .

It's the guys wearing the Hawaiian shirts I don't understand.... I mean... I understand the contrived irony and all that ...but not really. Can true irony ever be contrived? Is it a Look at ME thing?

( my people wear skirts and I don't really understand that either,)

Lordy Lordy!  This thread is almost getting funny.  Jiminy Cricket. I been skiing at Crystal for almost 50 years (ouch), I vaguely remember that the lines were bigger the lifts were slower the management/operations were pretty crappy (still are sometimes – though I have seen a lot more emphasis on fixing their operations – like a lot more mechanics that know how to start the machines standing by in all the right places – remember listening to a snowmobile coming up the mountain to fix the problem in the past?).  Anyway Sunday was a typical screw up…who would have expected the biggest crowd in almost 2 years to show up, I did.  That’s why I got there early enough to snag the first bucket ride up – YEE HAA, the first hour in the Valley was pretty fun…and just as the mass of humans showed up other options opened up.  I’ve skied the Valley too many times in the last year to not want to leave it to the masses when I can.  Chair 6 I love but opening day the options are stand around for a couple of hours waiting to be first or ski somewhere else till the frenzy is over and get some runs then (though sadly HC had two openings one North and then one later South that caused a second frenzy).  Sunday was a SUNDAY, there was lots of fresh deep snow, there were a lot of folks that either didn’t ski or only got in a few days last season, there was that dang almost first day crap of folks showing up (before they head back to the Malls), there was that whole other mass from the stepchildren from way up north, it was early season, it was the day after the Saturday screwed up party, it was Crystal!  Just another day at Crystal. Sorry, but I gotta say that it was good for me (even the soup and unlike Alpy! The lifts were spinning). I think that someone thought last spring that it would be a really nice extra for the pass holders to get the First Tracks perk for this month – ha ha…little did they anticipate that almost the entire season pass crowd would show up on the same day! On a Sunday no less….And Scotsman???? Don’t you think a Hawaii shirt is better than a suit? I’m hurt! ;D
