feb. 22 i think, alpental

OK, I know I'm probably going to get flamed to a crisp for this question, but here goes anyway...

Thinking of heading up to Snoqualmie tomorrow and getting a workout and maybe some fresh tracks. Going solo so I need to stay out of avy and treewell danger so I was thinking of trying to stay to the ski area slopes. Hyak and Alpy will both be closed. I think Hyak is a pretty safe bet - I've gone up there before when it's closed and had no problem with running into grooming operations or anything. Alpental would be more fun, but I'm not so sure about how safe it would be or whether I might run into avalanche control operations. Do they bomb on Mondays when they are closed? I can check with Ski Patrol if they are there, but if they're not around and it all looks clear and I head up - maybe I would find myself later in the middle of either bombing up top or grooming down below. Any suggestions? Anyone have experience with skinning up at Alpental when they are closed?

My understanding is that it is not allowed at Alpental once it starts operating for the season because of grooming or control work, especially with these conditions. I think there is a sign to that effect near the pedestrian bridge (and a heads-up post somewhere on this site).

Maybe think about Pineapple pass. Bro is right, no inbounds touring at Alpy during the season, even Mondays.

When I go solo that is a "safe" choice. But it's still snowing and maybe getting warmer. So Hyak is probably the best choice.
