Mt. Hood (Summer Fun Nationals GS Race)

Just spent five days of the last week down at Mt Hood, PSIA GS Camp, gate training and finally racing the USSA Summer Fun Nationals GS this last Saturday. Beautiful weather most of the time down there, lots of sun, clear skies and beautiful views all the way down to Jefferson and the Sisters. Last Tuesday was the only day with some rain - which only lasted about half an hour. Nice and firm in the morning, started softening up by about 9AM. By 11AM it would be perfect for some nice fat skis and for the boarders (not so good for GS skis though - even the treated race courses became pretty soft). Not a bad way to get in turns into late July. Saw a number of people skinning up the Palmer as well, maybe next year I should bring the AT gear.

Hey how was the skiing, as in how much is open/skiable? Heading down to pdx for a wedding and thinking about throwing the ski's in to kill some time and not sure if its worth it or not.
