Truly Thankyou all for the effort and attempts at suffering what sounds like a very unpleasant day...Elk might have been the thing to do a little earlier than normal today, or the Bullwheel - they got some pretty good beer and food up there. But what was the soup? Even Alpy is talking about soup reports and parking lot reports - didnt know they had that many parking lots? Anyway thanks for the reports. To paraphrase my buddy Spiro....You pontificating prattler of positivity ddk. I showed true grit and skied the frozen groomers with chickenheads until 2:30 despite the rest of my posse retiring to the Elk in disgust at the ridiculously early hour of 1.30.
I even skied oft-piste because I enjoy a good beating and revel in misery.

Actually, I had the full, half rotisserie chicken with a side of baked beans and mac n'cheese for lunch at the Base much to the wide-eyed amazement of my wife and posse because normally I don't eat much during the day. Don't know what the soup was but I was amazed to find A lot full at the ungodly hour of 8:30 am and had to fourwheel up the rutted, un-plowed road to the ULCWBC!
I think my lunch time gorging was a defense mechanism.
Positivity regarding the skiing was tried during the day by various members of the posse but to no avail and was shut down immediately by the majority. Faux , unjustified positivity like bad acting is easy to spot and not nice to watch. I even succumbed myself, once uttering " But it's still better than not skiing"..to which my posse unanimously disagreed.
Overeaching positivity is even worse and when one has to plumb the depth of human misery such as " well it's better than sitting in the ER with your parents" then really..... honestly, it's just better to accept the reality and enjoy the shared misery.
And OFT .. I distinctly remember looking at the clock when you guys diverted to the ELk and it was 1:35!!!!

Aaahhhhh music to my ears!I had a blast!
The big bonus about the lack of any good snow in the last couple of months is that the MT Bike trails are in primo condition, got a a good ride in today, sad part is how out of shape my lungs are from my lazy hamster type of skiing - hike? Uphill? Traverse for ever? Ouch.
