Crystal - 05/30?????

No real report from me today – so sad!...drove up this morning, but the two folks I was with did not have much desire to suffer the conditions we saw - sadly I did not either – pretty foggy. Parking lot filling fast pretty early, foggy no vis conditions lookin up the mountain and pretty negative reports from those in the know that I talked to...sat around early to see what was happening...drove out not a lot latter. Lots of cars driving up (still saw folks down by Mud Mt. at something like 10:45???? Whats with that??? Drove up to Cayuse to see what the big deep snow looked like - it was deep. The big slide from up off the back of the King (?) was pretty impressive where it hit 410 - another nicely groomed line for next year. Hoping for a report from those in the know about today? Did I miss a good day? Probably since I was not there. ddk

Got there for the 0850 opening to see a low overcast & fog, rode up the gondy to the top fog, and started cycling Lucky shot & Chicken shot in the fog. After a couple of foggy runs, headed down to the base thru the fog where it was finally not foggy a third of the way down Skid Road just to join the big line at the Gondola that did move pretty fast. Headed up thru the fog again, waited for a “clearing” of the fog. Hung out in the fog with ski patrol and abut 300 folks at the end of Lucky Shot’s behind the ridge traverse while they did a ski cut in Powder Bowl to try and drop some of the thick new snow down thru the fog, then zipped thru the fog down to Rex where the fog was not quite as dense. Scored a Ferks run in not-fog, then the fog rolled back in, so a couple more Lucky runs and then down and out. Snow was sticky during that first bottom run, getting fairly sticky at Gandy’s towards the end due to the warmth. TomK

Same fog today, but at least I had my goggles this time.

Thunder storm blew in on us fast in the afternoon. Lightning and chair lifts do not play well together.
